1995 BMW R100R "Classic"
Avus Black • 31,720 miles stock number 280913 $11,995 *Only 20,898 R100R's produced between 1991-1995.
This is a clean one-owner bike originally sold at Bob's BMW on 3/23/1996 and is one of the last of the R259 Boxer airheads. The very last R100R to roll off the production line was bike #280926 and it resides in it's original crate in Bob's museum - this bike is #280913 and is one of the very last only produced 13 bikes before our museum bike. This bike was produced in October of 1995 and is presented in Avus Black (#709). This is the last year of the R259 Boxer and it is a "Classic" or "Farwell" Edition which was different from the '93-'94 models in that it featured a black headlight and turn signal support, black instrument console, and R100R Classic badging on the tank. These were really unusual bikes in their day in that they featured a 980cc air-cooled twin (with oil cooler), had retro "rounded" valve covers, Showa suspension and a set of 4 piston Brembo calipers clamping twin 285mm floating discs up front. You also got twin 40mm Bings, 5 speed transmission, shaft drive with paralever, and basically the most advanced boxer BMW in it's 69 year history. It's a standard and capable of 90mph all day (5,500rpms in 5th) and easily exceeds 100mph but it's strength is it's torquey mid-range from about 3,500rpms - 6,000rpms. R100Rs weigh in at 435lbs and feature a 6.3 gallon tank with a 31.5" seat height. These are fantastic bike and if you want a classic look with modern stop and go capability this is the bike. If you are considering a sidecar and looking for a bike up to the task this bike would also serve as a great starting point. We are in the process of complete going through the bike including a major service along with some other updates and tweaks and this bike this bike comes with BMW side cases, center stand, and chrome engine bars. This is the desireable last year "Classic" model and the 13th to last R100R made.
