Bob Henig was already a devoted BMW motorcycle enthusiast when he realized the three indisputable points that would form the basis of a unique business opportunity: 1.) BMWs are made with high quality component parts built to last a long time;  2.) a great number of those parts are interchangeable among various years and motorcycle models; and 3.) BMW motorcycle owners would be an excellent potential market because they are brand loyal, enjoy doing some of their own mechanical work, and tend to be, shall we say, frugal.

So in 1981, Bob began taking apart BMWs in his basement and selling BMW motorcycle parts to his fellow local enthusiasts. But he also took his show on the road, making Bob’s Used Parts a regular fixture at BMW motorcycle rallies across the country. Word spread, and soon BMW motorcycle riders everywhere were enjoying the chance to buy parts that were just as dependable as new but cost a lot less.

  

Well, the rest, as they say, is history. But despite all the growth and the many changes that have occurred over the years, both at Bob’s and in the larger world of BMW motorcycling, Bob’s has been here selling good used motorcycle parts to smart (and yes,“frugal”) BMW riders all along. You see, some things don’t change, like all the good reasons why buying used parts makes sense - now as much as ever!
